Oh dear.....instead of moaning about people posting on quiz nights and karaoke why not just read a few threads back where I let people know of places to get cheap books.
There are 2 shops in Adliya where books are around 500 fils - the first is down near Costa Coffee and is in London Auctions - the selection is pretty limited though. The second has a much better selection and is up the other end opposite the Ferrari Centre (that now sells Peugot but never mind). There's a small shopping centre there that does um.....'ethnic' furniture, a phone/computer shop.....and a book shop.

Hope that helps

By the way, I'm looking for a mouth organ, also known as the harmonica. I know that "mouth organ" sounds rather risqu, but the term is commonly used. Does anyone know of a place where such musical instruments and the like are sold?

Found a great store called Moon Stores, near the Umm-Al-Hassam police station, just beyond DHL Bank. Stocks all kinds of instruments, except (thankfully) the electronic ones. Picked up a 16-hole M. Hohner chromatic.

I've marked it on www.wikimapia.org, for the benefit of all Dave's' users. I wonder if the use of the second apostrophe above is correct.

Apostrophe ? Why not join the International Society for the Annihilation of the Apostrophe ? Membership is restricted but on receipt of US$500 or equivalent our executive committee will consider your request to join our ranks.

Of course the idea of BUYING a book, howver cheap, is anathema to the 300 Club (in Bahrain the name is the 30 Club). Their technique is to visit colleagues who are foolish enough to buy books and borrow titles from their collection. Who knows, during the visit, the foolish buyer of books, might even profer refreshment and food !

Since I got wise to this strategem, I have banned from my premises several of these stingy f*****s. Are you reading this, oh Fellows of the 500?
