I got another real nice CV today in the e-mail.
It doesn't include the sender's e-mail address. Other than that little detail it is real nice.
(sigh) |

If you got it through email you will have the email address at the top of the message. Just cut and paste it into the CV |

True, true....
But of course I downloaded his CV, replied him the standard form letter and deleted his email... I then turned my attention to the next applicant.
Did I mess up? Sure? Who is paying the price? The guy who didn't bother to put his email on his CV. |

Paul, if you replied, there should be a copy in your sent mail folder. Also, I presume his CV includes some kind of contact address or phone number so, if I were in your shoes, I would contact him that way and apologise for my mistake.
Only if there was absolutely no way of getting in touch with the applicant would I adopt a lassez faire attitude to someone's application and not reply to it. |

In truth I did a Google on him and managed to contact him.
Nonetheless, it is fair-to-moderate boneheaded to not have your e-mail on your CV. |

Well, now after two weeks the flood of CV has become a trickle. As I am soon off to Vegas for a few weeks, I will stop monitoring the e-mail I listed in my ad.
About forty applications. I sent half of them up the chain.
All in all, a learning experience for me. |

Cleopatra:
If you're still reading this thread (although I understand you have left KSA) can you say where you worked in Riyadh that hired female ESL teachers? I worked in Riyadh in the 1980's (not as a teacher) and know that I can live there easily. All the job ads I reply to come back saying "males only". If you have the time to reply, I'd appreciate it. Also, any upper age limit? |

Princess,
I workedin a hospital in Riyadh - you're right, one of the very few places in KSA to employ non Saudi women. In fact my replacement is - guess what - a SAudi woman! Pay and conditions were good, but professionaly and socially it was a dead loss - isolating in the extreme. If you want more details, PM me. |

Well, I went on my annual month-long migration, to Las Vegas this time and when I returned, I discovered the company has done NOTHING to fill the slot that will come open on the first of the year.
There I am going to the trouble of advertising and writing all these applicants, all in hope of nice fat referral bonus and what happens? Nothing, just me left to explain it all.
(again ... sigh) |
