| ditto what denise said....Jordan/Syria/Egypt would be good for vegetarians lots of fresh fruit/vegatables there; homous, tabouleh, felafel...etc |

Thanks again for the replies. Let me see if I can summarize where we're at so far:
1) I really shouldn't worry about being vegetarian. It can be done just about anywhere though some places will obviously be better than others. And my own willingness to be somewhat flexible will be important.
2) Denise had positive things to say about meeting locals in Peru and Japan.
3) Girl Scout would not recommend Asia based on my criteria with the exception of Thailand and the coast of China.
4) Glenski indicated that re: Asia "you have to get past certain aspects before you can call it "positive and friendly"".
Any other thoughts on countries or cities I might consider based on the criteria I outlined in my original post?

I only know Japan, and that was what I intended to mean earlier. Perhaps people in other Asian countries can agree or disagree about the above statement as it pertains to where they live. I can't say. |
