"Venom" - look at the content of my posts more as a "magical ointment" with which you can cover your beautiful bodies so as to ward off the evil of that nasty ESL machine that's consistently consuming new raw young flesh in its dash for the promised horizons of profit.
Im sure the disciples of the machine are working in these very forums - beautiful newbies beware!!!!!

Any decent online ESL courses or would I be better off taking one in China? If the latter, where!? Also, I'll be arriving in late september/early october ... do any universities hire around this time or would my only options be English Mills and the sort?

Just take some 40-hour online TEFL certificate course. If Oxford Seminar is available in your part of the country, take that -- it is a 60-hour month-long in-class TEFL training program.

Any suggestions for the online course? A reputable website perhaps? I'll certainly check google.

Why waste your money? Most of these course have no real value to you or the school.

There is some value -- it teaches those who do give a damn about doing a decent job in the classroom how to prepare lessons, how to manage classes, how to stir up interest, among other things.
