As Scott47 says: vacation is loomimg...
What do teachers/ or (place job title here) do during their holidays? Is it the standard R&R holiday?
OR Does anyone aspire to loftier ideals as to how they spend their "down" time? soul searching retreat, writing that novel, volunteer work, rock climbing, research...what else????
I had considered doing some volunteer work, as I like the idea, but when push comes to shove, I usually opt for the popular R&R lifestyle.
Of course I will also be busy with online course work over the summer as well, and looking at properties inbetween the R&R.
The downside of a loooong vacation is the amount of money spent, but that's a tough life, isn't it?
What ever you do...hope you enjoy. Even poor VN who has to suffer the indignity of working over the summer in a hot stuffy classroom. keep smiling...another year....then.... |

Money, after all, is for spending. Well, unless you're a member of the 500 club...or is it the 300 club? Or in Doha, the 30 Club?
VN, don't they give you AC? Christ, I cannot even imagine a summer in Bucharest without it, never mind the Gulf. Mind you, last summer here was like the Gulf, and this year is shaping up too...once the June thunderstorms have passed, that is!! At the moment it's more like Bogor, Indonesia!!
Anyway, all those of you going on a holiday...vacation...R&R....whatever you choose to call it, have a nice time, and don't do anything Bebsi wouldn't do.
Oh, if anyone is seriously thinking of a big summer splurge on the stock market, I was thinking of going public, and converting Bebsi Enterprises into a PLC. Bebsi International? The prospectus will appear shortly in all good financial publications worldwide. |

Don't worry about me: I've developed a Sisyphus-like stoicism (each "turn the page, shebab" is like pushing another boulder up a hill.) |

In Doha and Dubai, it would also be the 300 club (or 500).
In Kuwait, Manama, and Muscat it would be the 30 club (or 50).

No, Trapezius and VS, Bebsi does NOT get his Gulf currencies mixed up. I mean the 30 club in Doha.
Allow me to explain, dmb and a few others are already familiar with this matter:
In Doha some years ago, was a gentleman working with, I believe, QAC. This individual was of the strict view that any time spent in the Gulf was most definitely not a time for expenditure of large chunks of mammon. So, he set himself - successfully, I believe - the task of living on 1 riyal a day. Personally, I can't imagine how...simple economics, as you get very little for a riyal, so spending on anything would require more expenditure than a riyal. OK, maybe a can of Pepsi, or an Arab News every two days? It was with this person in mind that I referred to Doha as a 30 riyal a month destination.
This has already been written about by a number of posters, in other threads...maybe the Qatar forum, or General Middle East forum.
So, this gentleman would be part of the 3-club in Bahrain. Or the 2.4 club in Kuwait? |

Baba, thanks for your dog, he rescued me from an angry poster in SA. In fact I ordered my double agent Dmb to kidnap your dog from Istanbul and send it here!
Baba, dont you know that in SA the owners of roaming dogs face stiffer penalties!

The source of your story is from my associate Dmb, and the gentleman in the story is his ex-friend in Doha, and I believe he is a Scot. |

I once bumped into him in a coffee shop and he was drinking a coffee. I almost had a heart attack. But then one of his students returned.... so I guess the student had paid.
007, big stinky liar. I did not kidnap Baba's dog. Baba is a good friend of mine and I see the grief he is going through. I would not do that to a friend. |
