Yep. They all seem to enjoy that little "game". Rolling Eyes I believe dong shim is literally translated into "sh*t house". Or so I was told. Wink

Sheesh. There are some things I'm just not going to do for money. Rolling Eyes

Teach kids part time in Japan here and there. The Japanese are starting to catch on to the "pay through the nose to educate your kid" bandwagon. I've taught Japanese kids here and there. Never put up with that.

Yep, I never got used to it. One kid quickly learned not to try it on me after I grabbed his hand and twisted it. Shocked Never was bothered about it again. Very Happy

Well, the Ddong chim is the least of my worries here. They have grown bored with it and it doesn't happen very often anymore. My biggest complaint is that there is no discipline here. If I try to discipline anyone, I am immediately in trouble with the boss. It really is difficult to teach anything with kids bouncing off the walls. I am getting better at finding things that get their interest, but those days are few and far between. If I could just get them to take out their books and do some classwork once in a while, I might feel like I was accomplishing something.

I try to make class interesting. I use a lot of games, but the problem with that is that usually the kids cheat and ruin the game, so that any learning that would have been possible is lost. Either that or they refuse to play, they just start throwing things around and fighting. Rolling Eyes

It really isn't much more than babysitting a lot of the time, but hey, I am getting paid. Cool

About finding a good job here. It is not so easy to check a place out, unless you know someone who works there or has worked there, you really have no idea what to expect. Schools advertise jobs, so you check to see if you can find anything out , but usually nobody has heard of the place before or they have worked for a different branch or something. They may have a current foreign teacher telling you how wonderful the place is, but later you find out that they were blackmailing the guy by threatening to withold his final pay. Shocked

It's basically a crap shoot. Sometimes you can get lucky.
Cheers

I have not been to all of the Middle East, but the parts I have been to are all very different. Bahrain for example is very liberal and you can even wear shorts and drink beer (if you show your foreign passport at special stores). Also women need not cover their face.

On this note, I notice some people think it odd or even outlandish that women must remain covered up in some of the Middle Eastern states. I would say however that this just proves that you have never seen one of them without her cover. If you had, you would not complain. Most are pretty ugly.

If they want to cover, let them. If they want to prohibit women drivers let the. It is their country. I did not come to the ME as a missionary !

If they think the punishment for certain crimes is public beheading that is their prerogative.
