Dear SueH,

I brought up the issue of my finances because your little friend was trying to make me out as some sort of chiseling mendicant. It is enough and after that it isn't anybody's business - if it ever was in the first place.

And for that sniggering Icahabod Crane descendant over there. My grandfather, was a sober, respectable man. If you have an issue with that, send me an e-mail and perhaps we can get together some time and I will be happy to impress you with the wisdom of not insulting your betters.

And now, I have all the information I believe I need about the two of you and what I may encounter if I walk below the tweed. These proceedings are finished.

(Pending your e-mail snotty - if you have the guts)

Do you know, Gentle Reader, I do believe he's getting upset.
Now, how could that have happened?
I'm sure I don't know.

Strange types, these colonials.

This is perfect rubbish!

He has been boasting about his money to anyone who would listen on just about every board in 'Dave's'. I suppose it was only a matter of time before he turned up on the UK board to tell us all how rich he is. I ran a quick check on his previous posts. He never shuts up about his damn money. Rolling Eyes

He also has a history of denegrating ESL teaching and teachers, being insulting, not acknowledging other people when they put themselves out to help him, and then telling everyone that he doesn't care!

Look at his previous posts and you'll see what I mean.

All in all, a thoroughly unpleasant character, best ignored.

Given that boasting about your money is considered in the UK to be about the most crass thing you can do, someone is going to be made rather unwelcome there if they behave in real life as they do on this forum.

He's a troll, folks!

His modus operandi is to open a seemingly innocent looking thread and then at the first opportunity, he starts boasting about his money and insulting EFL teachers for being so stupid as to work for the rates we get.

This is just one example there are plenty more, too many to list:
Quote:
I think I am approaching a better understanding of ESL. Let's call it MDK's first corollary, "People who are forced to subsist on an ESL teacher's salary probably can't teach it effectively."

Oh, I have the guts alright, and the time, as I'm retired: I just don't have the inclination to waste any more time with you. The irony of calling me snotty, it made me laugh.

Please do go to the UK and you may well find your vocabulary being extended; plonker, tosser, pillock and a number of regional variants such as wazzock spring to mind. And if you think the Scots will put up with your attitude you are very much mistaken.

Sue,

I think that he was addressing me with his 'Snotty' challenge because I took a swipe at his grandfather.

To me it seems perfectly logical that if he chose to bring his relatives into it then he shouldn't complain when someone mocks them. This is the stuff and fabric of the pisstaking mentality of the UK. If he's thinking of 'gracing' the UK with his presence, then he'd better get used to it.

Could I just take this opportunity to explain to the board that the only reason that I was so hostile and mocking towards him is that I know him to be an offensive troll. I'm currently in Japan, and he was chased off the Japan board for similar behaviour.

Best wishes
JB

I dropped back to post this information about the speyside walk..

Quote:
Buckie to Craigelachie, Tomintoul or Aviemore 135km/84 miles (including all spurs)
A route following the river Spey south from the Grampian coast through forests, past whisky distilleries and along an old railway track to the famous Highland resort. The Spey is said to be the fastest flowing and cleanest river in Britain.

Update. Flood damage has affected the Dufftown spur. The path is still usable but difficult, and is therefore officially closed as part of the Way.

Sorry to see the thread is still infested with that ill-feckit pack of southrons. We'll just ignore the daft, gaberlonzies,eh? I hope this thread is useful to all people of good will.

What have I learned? Basil Fawlty and Hounslow are funny on TV. In real life, they're quite a different kettle of fish.

And furthermore...

I had the misfortune to spend the last winter working in a large school where there were about fifty British ESL "professionals". I watched their drunken antics for about 9 months. Well, to tell the truth, maybe 50 percent of them were decent enough sorts, then there were the others.

So I know exactly what's going on when some euro-trash puts on la-di-dah airs and starts in on me with uncalled for verbal abuse. I'm not a man for trouble, but I don't have to take that from anybody.

So, Caveat Lector, if you are contemplating working overseas in a school where there are a large number of British ESL teachers, you would be well to bear in mind those soccer fans barfing on each other in the stands. Are you ready for 9-12 months of working alongside that?

Here is the FIRST reply to my request for information about the national trails.

Yes, that seems clear from the reaction that you have had on many other boards on this forum!

Your obsession with the Schengen Agreement is misplaced.

If you tried to teach English to the English then they wouldn't understand what the hell you were talking about!

If you tried to teach English in Europe, they would laugh at you because they speak far better English than you do.

Try Asia!

And by the way, you should have said thanks to Sweeney Todd for answering your last question.

Had you, in fact, had the merest iota of decency or civility, none of this unfortunate discourse would have been necessary.

And now read the curse of the troll. That you should all remain British ESL teachers and wander throughout the world for the rest of your lives making your meager livings in that trade.

And may God have mercy on your souls.

Quite right!

I think it's time to treat this customer to a good old dose of English frost.

If we totally ignore him then then he will, eventually, go away!

And the sooner the better!

Hmmm, this place is a grubby as I remember it to be.

Just a note to report that my friend John has returned from doing the "Coast to Coast" trail and he says it is a very nice experience of a couple of hundred miles. He reports that they have something called "camping barns" along with camping grounds, hostels and the odd B&B. He was able to get a shower every night.

True it is in England, but for them as like that sort of thing, seems to be pleasant enough.
