Thanks, that's a relief to know! Yeah, i'd probably go the whole case-thing too; much more practical in terms of space and everything 
Yeah, i'm not bringing porn, altho i do have some burnt cds and my own compilations and stuff. i might just have to put them on an external HD or something, just to play it safe. |

I use one called DVD Region+CSS Free, altho i got it ages ago. Dunno if it's still out there... But yeah, just try doing a goggle search, and you'll probably come across some forums which recommend which programs are good or not, and where you can grab 'em from. |

I just received an email from a friend saying that Japan is really trying to catch people bringing in pirated dvds. (This from a country where you can RENT cds for a night.  )
My friend is not prone to exaggeration and she's usually very practical. But, still, I can't believe really believe it. She said I'll have to fill out a special customs form and write the exact length and titles of all the dvds. Has anyone ever heard this?!
I was planning on sending her a care package with some cheap movies from the streets of Seoul. She told me to not even bother sending them because, "they'll never make it."
I tried to search online, but couldn't find anything. We're talking half a dozen movies in a small box with some other souvenirs from Korea, not crates of pirated movies. I have known of people who got busted having stuff mailed, but are they really looking out for dvds THAT hard these days?
I'll just go ahead and send them without writing it on the customs form. Just write "magazines, blah blah blah". But I was curious about her mail. |

I don't have any hard facts on this, just my own personal experience.
Whenever I have received a "care package", if it was sent airmail, customs has opened it. Whenever it came by sea, no one has touched it.
So, if you really want to do it, try sending it the long way. |

| When I came I brought about 2000 CDs with me (not in jewel cases, but in binders like the poster above. No hassles whatsoever. |

| I brought close to 500 CD/DVDs, and didn't have a problem, either. I don't think you have to worry. |

AnyDVD if you want a software option, but if you're going the hardware route then remember that region coding on players is illegal in Australia and NZ so you should be able to play any region coded discs. The only problem you might run in to is the NTSC/PAL formats being incompatible, but even then, most players sold in OZ/NZ are dual format too. |

yes Anydvd is also a very good program to allow you to watch DVDs from any region
they are having 20% discount for Holloween now too
Yes I think the external HDD is the best idea, saves space and weight too |
