| I actually did my TEFL Cert after my year abroad as a language assistant in Spain (If you study modern languages at a uni in the UK you either study/work overseas as a language assistant in your third year of study) I found that being thrown in at the deep end worked better for me, in that I could experiment and learn hands on, as opposed to going on a course....it depends on the person and/or your circumstances.... |

| You have to remember that in some countries you need a recognised teaching certificate in order to be legal. |
And a four week programme should count!?
:P |
It depends who you are teaching and what.
In an International School the answer is usually No!. You need a PGCE or its equivalent plus some credential in your subject speciality.
In a Korean Hogwan, get yourself a fake MA TESOL and a CELTA (University of the Isle of Wight) off the internet and they will be most impressed. A genuine CELTA is overkill! Your main requirement is to be a performing monkey who speaks: The English.
More important assets than the papers you lovingly acquire, are your looks (female, blond, blue eyes, aged 21-31 = 100% employability; male, tall, handsome and a guitar player = 99% employability) |
