JET hands down...I've done both eikaiwa and JET, and despite feeling some loyalty, it's ALWAYS better to be with an organization committed to education (a Board of Education), such as it is, than to a business committed to making money through English conversation. You'd be a fool to turn them down, seriously.

Jim,
I can only go by what is written. JET says OK to repeat applications. If you have evidence to the contrary, let's see it.
I agree that people who interview JET candidates might balk at someone if they turned down the previous appointment, but one might also think of it completely differently. That is, they accepted him once, so he fit their requirements. Who is to say that out of the thousands of applications they get every year, that JET even keeps such records anyway? If they do, it is still in the applicant's favor, IMO, especially if they rewrite the application to state valid reasons for bowing out the first time and strongly indicating that those reasons will not happen again. It's worth the postage to send it in.
Gambatte,
I quoted the only section I could find that had information close to the topic, not the wrong one, unless you can find one that clearly says you cannot do that.

Sorry but I have to strongly disagree based on the experience I have with 7 ex-eikaiwa people. One got hired mid-year simply because someone bailed out and recommended him. Hardly even had an interview. So, it's all case by case. |

Can I reiterate that JoyTalk is a dispatch company and not an eikaiwa.

Dispatch company?
This is like being offered two cups of tea. One of them I've just made fresh and the other cup of tea has been sitting around the house for a few days and has been spat in.
Which would you like?
Go with JET. |
