Good advice, though I haven't had any problems going to the students house, but I have wheels and satellite navigation.
The local kominkan might be worth a try as its free (ime) if the students are from that area. Perhaps in exchange you can offer to teach summer classes for the local kids there.

Around here, it costs 1,200 yen to rent a room in the local community hall for an evening (600-930). The rooms are nice, carpeted, air con, conference style seating, with a white board at the front.

No brainer then.

Usually though, said rooms cannot be rented for functions where money is exchanged.

I wouldn't say usually, each place has it's own rules. Ime they don't care what you do as long as you pay your money. Ymmv.

Please, anne. This has been covered a zillion times. Please use the search function.

I guess someone has to take the place of canuck in his absence. But for real authenticiity, Glenski, you need to add the rolling eyes emoticon at the end. Rolling Eyes

Anne, I'm with you. People who take the time to actually lash users for not being search-correct have a bit too much of themselves invested here.

And don't you think that people who take the time to take to task the people that actually lash users for not being search-correct have a bit too much of themselves invested here.

No, I don't. Some people here are way too anal for their own good, and they deserve to have that pointed out from time to time.

Actually, it's been incredibly peaceful and anal-free since canuck left on holiday. I've quite enjoyed it here recently.

Sorry to see everyone is still as miserable, and yes, as anal as ever here!
I mean the arguing back and forth really gets old.
On another note.....
I'm happy......I came here in May, got hired with Nova, got my visa, did the 3 day training, said no thanks, got really discouraged, and now, after a thick week of interviews in this heat, I think I've found a really good positon, and I'm happy!
Someone asked why I would miss the men and the food when I was contemplating splitting to Korea whenever that post was made. Well,
I've been a pescatarian, which means I eat no meat other than fish, for 12 years and the fish here is so fresh and delicious.....miso, japanese rice is truly the best I've had.......some sake....mmmmm!
Now, the men. I enjoy men just as much as most men enjoy women, possibly more......and I think I can say this, even after giving myself a little time to process the whole situation.....I have never been around so many great looking men in my life. Nice bodies, hair, skin, style, sensitivity....everything.....it's really overwhelmog to me sometimes.
So......let's end this thread on a happy note......tra la la la la....la la la la!

Last time I was in Korea I noticed that it had men so don't worry too much on that score.

Is Korea a better place to show your privates?

I've been pretty patient with posts in response to me directing people to the Search function.

Let's cut the cr@p here, people. Search is here for a reason. If you have used it and not found something, please say so politely. If you don't like someone pointing out the fact that you didn't use it at all, be nice enough to say "oops", not juvenile remarks about people being "anal" or the following:
Quote:
Oh....the search function.....what's that? Glenski, do me a favor....please don't respond to any of my posts......ever again....thanks!

As for the tangent this "discussion has taken (mentioning people's private parts), geez. How juvenile can we get? I try to treat people on this forum as professional adults, which is why I don't use the rolling eyes feature, but I guess we have gone beyond that. Sometimes it looks more like bigdaikon.com here than a forum where serious teachers ask each other serious questions.

And, people wonder where professionalism has gone in Japan...

Professionalism? Different things to different people, and in my opinion some of the people who have been here for awhile seem to me to take their jobs and themselves far too seriously.
It's annoying!
And, how long is the discussion going to go on involving the effing search function? If you don't like someone's post leave it alone. If you don't have something useful to offer, leave it alone....move on, read a book, do some origami, play with your kid, clean the toliet, eat some cheese!
I'm not going to spend my time on here responding to this crap anymore.
I wish to add this Markle person to my list of people to please not respond to my posts, but I guess, seeing as that Glenski has popped in on this one, that he/she simply won't do me the pleasure.
Have a good summer everyone!

Funny, I've never seen anyone do this here.....and the men in Korea are simply not as attractive as Japanese men in my opinion.

Actually I agree with you here and by and large I do do this. I think Glenski should ignore a lot more posts than he does but I think it's equally pointless to tell him so. I mean you can't tell someone to ignore posts they don't like by posting a reponse like "I hate it when people don't ignore posts they don't like..." I wish people would practice what they preach.

What makes you think that I was responding to you? Well since you singled me out, I'll just say I ignore your posts because they are obviously a desperate attempt get some attention from someone too lazy to use the search function.
