evegoodmon...being British I find it neither confusing or unnecessary to teach my students British English (what, after all am I to do? Teach them American? haha)..I do, however, have the decency to point out the difference between the two rather than trying to hide it like some American teachers (the large majority of whom, incidently, probably don't actually know the differences)..most of the students I have taught who study in schools with Indonesian teachers who teach 'Standard American English' are desperately lacking in pronunciation and reading skills..they are also desperately confused with slang and bad language in Hollywood films and music from US bands..I've have never had any student who, after a few lessons, is still struggling with my accent..

I would like to add that I speak Indonesian well and therefore have, long ago, identified the phonetic differences/similarities between Bahasa Indonesia and British English for my own use in class..I would be very interested to see research that shows that American English has been proven 'easier to learn' for Indonesian students than American English..the 'A' sound in Bahasa, for example, is closer in pronunciation to which language? "grass"..."bath"..."ask"...also, why on Earth would anyone want to teach kids Perfect Tenses at that age???

Ma'af Henry saya sudah tau katanya "Salam" tapi saya pikir kata itu "Nickname" kamu punya.
Many people sign their letters with a nickname, and salam would be quite a nice one to use.
Anyway I was just suggesting that you were correct in your thinking.
