Hey Bells. Thank you for the advice. I did check out expat.ru once but only very briefly. I will check into it again and see what I can dig up.

There are so many guys hanging around in Russia who either cannot or won't work for one reason or another that the last thing women there need are 'freeloaders' arriving from abroad! But nothing in this world surprises me any longer and no doubt this guy did succeed in getting someone to carry him but for how long and what quality of relationship they have with each other is another question...
From my own experience,Russian women are hard-working,capable and very frugal when they need to be and certainly don't like being taken for a ride! But defining right and wrong is very difficult: for example,I know of one 25 year old who came to Cyprus some years ago from a depressed town on the White Sea where she had a 5 year old kid and unemployed husband. She got a job waitressing in a Lebanese restaurant here for about $500 per month plus tips which she was quite happy with for several months, even though part of her 'duties' included screwing with her boss!!
When she saw my initially horrified re-action to her revelation, she asked me what I would have done in her situation, especially as she owed money to people at home for her airline ticket etc!In Severodvinsk she was lucky to find a job with much more than $150 per month,if she could get one,out of which she had to keep three people!
Like she also said to me, it's easy to moralise about someone else when you're not in their shoes!

Click the forums section and be a member. Hey canuccktie you have been in contact with me here for a few years now hope you have joined also. We could do with your chatter. Don't forget when asked how you found the site to say BELS.

Canucktie, the advise you were given to break your entries into paragraphs was great. Nice to see you took the advise as You are a lot easier to understand. Especially when I have read your message in the morning with a hangover. ok the address again expat.ru

Dear Maruss,

The last thing on my mind was to start a general discussion of Russian women - most of whom I appreciate and respect very much.

I merely wanted to point out that there are a certain class of people who will do almost anything to get a ticket to the US. This lady was of that sort. She got a ticket to the US as what I would consider to be a great cost, and in doing so she did this fellow a great service which he was constitutionally able to reciprocate. The last time I saw them he was about to get fired for being an idiot and I gave her the name of a Russian Orthodox priest in southern California so she could hook up with her own people. What can I say? She got to come and live in the US.

For some reason (who can say why?) the OP reminded me of this fellow she married. Since he appears to be determined to follow this course (as opposed to my sensible advice of first working in the west and getting some money together) he may find some decent Russian woman who will hook up with him for whatever reason. I think a decent Russian woman who is willing to join up with you is of even more advantage than a job at a McSchool. Call me crazy, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it until I see better evidence to the contrary. As I say, I make no judgement they are both (at least nominally) adults.

I wish everybody success and beg to be excused from the crime of making generalization about Russian women - except this one point. The good ones are very good and the bad ones are very bad.

That's the second time you've said that. What's the story? Do you get paid for referring ppl to the site or something?

Confused

I checked out the site ystrdy. It looked promising, but some of the sections, like the calendar and phone directory are useless. I guess it depends on members to supply the information that's supposed to be available for members. I'm not hurrying to register, but may take a look once in a great while to see if things have improved.

When she was nice she was very, very nice, but when she was bad......'
I can tell of both examples of Russian women from personal experience and would prefer to P.M. anyone who wants to know more! However,I'm sure guys from many other countries have similar tales too.
Like I wrote yesterday,it's very difficult to clarify right and wrong unless you know all the facts and the circumstances behind the case.
But perhaps the old saying'what goes around comes around' is the best rule to live by?

I don't get paid for it. I am a member like I am here. I joined both forums just before arriving into Russia for the first time to get married. and found them both very useful for different specialist areas.

I was referred to this site from Expat.ru forum and I will continue to refer both sites to thers depending on what information one seeks. They are not competiters as they are both different. It is a well established site, just like this one.

There is a competition going on at the moment and you do get get credit points for referring. However I don't stand a chance of winning the laptop as the top member have a few thousand credit points above me. So I was only joking about mentioning my name.

However there are many experienced experienced expat and are useful for valid information such as tax, visas and generally living in Russia.
