Oh my goodness, my heart goes out to all those poor little Turkish babies I see bundled up in their strollers with 2 blankets and a couple layers of clothes, red faced, sweaty and howling! And their mothers going 'He must've gotten nazar, that's why he's crying.' It's not nazar, you moron, it's 32+ outside! Don't they know babies are human? The only reason Ender wears a diaper all the time, poor little fella-- those things are thick and airless, even the cloth ones-- is that he repeatedly discovers his boys and gets them in a baby death grip and can't let go. I'm afraid he'll damage himself otherwise I'd be content to lay him on a towel and let nature take it's course! The boy does wash off easily enough. The only reason I make him wear a shirt is that it snaps in the crotch and keeps him from opening his diaper.
We just got back from holiday in Akay, and I think it's really funny how the rules of sickness just fly out the window on holiday-- naked babies on the beach, vest-less men, people in shorts walking around with wet hair... Interesting! |

How is Akcay nowadays. I lived there for two years in the early 90s. I passed by on the road a few years ago and was shocked at how built up it had become. I used to live in a villa about 20 meters from the beach in the centre of town......... I bet it is now a concrete jungle I guess the same is happening all around the coast in Turkey |

It was really pretty, I thought. We stayed in a nice little villa, also very close to the beach. It was built up, yes, though nothing like here. And there was always a lovely cooling breeze where we stayed in ren, while it was always blazing hot in nearby Burhaniye...
In all, I really prefer the Turkish holiday places over the resorts. So much more relaxing and genuine, without all the failed tries at being European... |

goodness those places are blasts from the past. There used to be a boat from Akcay to Oren, where there were a few bars. I always enjoyed getting a boat to the pub..... journey home was sometimes a bit queezy though. |
