good point there that they treat us as "laowais" and that it comes to our advantage at times, however let's not abuse that lovely status we have in china Wink

once, my former coworker from a language center in Fuzhou lashed at a police cruiser at night, really drunk...they took him for the police station tour, but they used so much respect...took only a very short time and he was back at his flat before sunrise smiling and joking/boasting what happened to him
well, just wanna tell how special we are as well as how much we abuse it at times Wink

lostinasia, you must've been really ticked off to go through the court proceedings...good for you and maybe for many of us too Smile

peace to the justice system in china
and
cheers and beers to laowais that've guts to come forward as far as that Very Happy

Do you know the complete hassle it would be to actually go to the Labor Bureau, complain, wait light years for a response and then try to collect that double salary?

Light years is a measure of distance not time i.e. the amount of distance travelled by a photon of light in a vacuum or about 9,460,730,472,580.8 km

Jiangsu is a lot different from Henan where I retained a lawyer with the help of a Chinese friend . The lawyer said the same thing . Everyone is friends and I would just be wasting my money . Jiangsu has many English speaking lawyers because there are many foreigners doing business there . They have to do things on the up and up .
