A couple of ideas spring to mind

I appreciate my SS asking before they up and leave and I will wait for them for a few minutes if I'm covering instructions for a task or explaining a difficult grammar point.
The one at a time rule stands.
Oh, and this semester I request they leave their cell phone on their desk. Interestingly enough the number of requests has been reduced considerably in just a week. Wink

Cell phones is impossible, they're collected by the homeroom teacher at the beginning of the day. ONly one girl leaves at a time and they have to ask permission. Best of all, I?m allowed to say no.

The bathroom thing isn't so much of a problem as talking is.

Do these girls have any ambitions that could remotely be connected to any kind of academic future? Don't they care about passing exams--- even if they aren't interested in learning?

Yeah right. Everything depends on connections here. They'll go to the u of Lima, which requires you to be alive and pay the fees to enter, then work for a family company.

My husband's here, that's the main reason why I am, but I'm looking for a better job.

Find the ringleader (there is always one) and concentrate all your efforts on her. You know, the girl with the 2-3 groupies who strikes fear into the hearts of the rest of the class. The girl who can ruin reputations at the drop of a hat.

Whether you decide to be all nicy-nicy with her, confrontational or something else with her depends a lot on her personality.

Think of them as a pack of very predicatable animals. Give the leader a few choices and present the choices in a way that you will know which option the pack leader will decide. The rest will follow the pack leader and if they don't she'll have to deal with them. Slowly day by day start limiting the options until you are in full control.

Anyway, it works with muh Dawgs! Laughing
