Isn't teacher-training one of the key parts of a DoS job? It certainly is in mine...

And, back to the OP's concerns, how may other foreign teachers work at your uni? If you're in a position where you can regularly benefit from peer-observations, experience-sharing workshop sessions, training sessions from a qualified DoS, and regional/national workshops & conferences, then your time in China will count for one heck of a lot more than a just a few years of "coasting along" in an isolated, safe position.
