Oh, forgot to add the kicker. Send the agent a copy of the letter of resignation that you're about to send the school. The letter should express in no uncertain terms that the reason for resignation has nothing to do with teh school and everything to do with the shameful and fraudulent manner of the agent's misrepresentation. Now the agent may not care what reputation it has among us foreigners, but it has to think twice if its reputation among the schools takes this kind of hit.
The teacher should have no difficulty finding a job on his or her own. Why stay? |

| The agent called the FT and asked for a $1,000 USD fee which the FT agreed verbally. The FT is now in China and having second thoughts about paying the agent. |
I am so out of touch with the mindset of the currently active forum members that I don't bother posting much anymore.
Before leaving his / her country of residence, the FT AGREED to pay a third party $1,000 to secure him / her a teaching position in China. A position was, in fact, secured and the FT is now teaching in China.
Too late to question the third party's bona fides. Too late to question the value of the service provided. Pay the fee AGREED to, learn from the mistake, and move on. |

Things are getting worse, who would pay 1000 USD for such a low paying position?
We are not talking about a real-career job in a country that pays an actual wage.
Of course, unless the FT has possible other problems (no degree, certification, fake or dodgy credentials)
Still this is a very steep fee, I can see 1000 RMB NOT dollars.
A good lesson for those that want to teach in China that do not meet the min requirements to be a teacher.
At least she doesn't need to perform massages and KTV entertainment to some Chinese gangster types for the honor of teaching in China.
It could be worse and will get worse in the future. |

There seems to be an "admission" that the "teacher" agreed to the fee
She should pay it - that simple
Who cares if it was verbal or not
Otherwise she should leave the country and learn to act like a professional adult before making such agreements in the future |

so lets see the teacher agrees to pay a set amount of money for a service, recives the service and then doesn't want to pay.
pay the money.
that being said treat it as a lesson that being stupid is not an excuse to get out of your obligations. Why would anyone agree to pay $1000 aboout 1/6 of your expected yearly salary to get a job in china when it is so easy to find one on the internet? |

I'll go one better!
For the record:
AussieGuy never promised me 10k to quit the forum and stop griefing him. He's never sent me a PM. I don't even use PayPal. It was all a fabrication, a ruse, a lie if you will. I take it all back.
If you thought that was was all true, my apologies and condolences. Must hurt being an Aussie with no wit. First one I've encountered. Oh sorry, the second, but the first one was deceased.
By the way, I'm curious. After you tie the kangaroo down sport, what do you do to it?
