Old mate Duffy! Majali receives OR1600 per teacher per month for recruitment. It is not a one-off payment but a monthly stipend to ensure Majali KEEPS the teacher satisfied and in place on campus for the duration of the contract.

And we should believe you because...

I think your source was probably full of... it.

Why? They work in MOHE. They are Omani. Why would they be as you suggest? Do you know them? Do you have special knowledge of what is and what is not? Heavens!

Employees' salaries generally account for about two thirds of their "on-costs" , or total costs, to their employer for their engagement.
Therefore, if the MOHE English teachers are paid salaries just below OR.1000 pcm, we can anticpate their total on-costs, (inc. salary), to that Ministry will be around the OR. 1,500 pcm mark.

And we should believe something just because an anonymous poster makes a claim?

Geronimo brings it back to my original question. Does the agent pay your rent, medical policy if any, tickets, or etc out of this 1600 OR? If so, it makes sense.

One thing Omanis have never been foolish about is spending money. To think that a recruiter would be paid nearly 20,000 OR a year for each teacher he places annually... merely as a placement or finders fee would be fiscally stupid. No matter what nationality told you this, it doesn't compute. Now, if he is taking financial responsibility for you under your contract and paying all the expenses incurred for you out of that 20,000 OR, this is a perfectly fair number.

VS makes the case perfectly here. Mr Majali has nothing more to do with the recruited teacher after said person signs contract. The MoHE covers all other expenses. So why keep paying a person once his/her job is done???

C'mon temu-whatsit!! your previous statements do not make sense. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Why are you banging on about this person?? If he//she has caused you aggrevation - fair enough, but you have not mentioned this.

Live and let live I say - read my quote below. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Actually MOHE only uses recruiters these days... very few (none?) direct hires. SQU and the private colleges are almost the only places that direct hire.

Just listen to VS and us. The MoHE are not openly recruiting!!!! you have to find the best deal you can.

I have said who I prefer, what about others?? who do you think is the best recruiter?????

Youare not going to get a direct deal with the Ministry. Choose your agent carefully.

In the end, the students do not care where their Instructors come from, as long as they get their English - what the heck!!
