I did my TEFL course in Prague--not the CELTA, because the "name brand" image really puts me off. As to what I got out of it, well, I'd had no previous teaching experience and my first degree was in a non-teaching field, so I got the basics: how to plan and deliver a lesson, how to manage a classroom (albeit with adults), and a grammar review, which I don't think I really needed. And, of course, I got that basic qualification without which so many jobs would have been out of my reach.
