| I don't know about pills, but the Evra birth control patches cost only $150 - $180 pesos / month ($13.53-16.23 CAD), so birth control may be had quite economically. Shoppers drugmart in Canada would charge $12.99 just to pick the box up off the counter and put a useless sticker with your name on it, in addition to the cost of the medicine. |

| That is three times what I would pay if I were reimbursed through my student health plan BUT significantly more convenient! Who wants to carry seven months' worth of prescription meds with them? Maybe I'll buy the meds in Mexico and then try to get my money back for the Mexican pills after I return to Canada! Hmmmm... |

Am I supposed to start a separate thread to ask another question about reproductive health care costs in Mexico, namely the cost of viagra? |

Ladies,
Pills smills. The Minera IUD cost about 2000 pesos and lasts for 5 years. Ask your doctor. |

i will definitely be taking you up on this, so thank you.
and as for the iud, it freaks me out way too much, i am content with just remembering to take a pill everyday. |

There is a poster here on Dave's, "whitebeagle", using this avatar. Is it time for this thread to vanish yet?

I don't think that many doctors will prescribe the IUD for twenty-three year old girls in non-monogamous relationships...
... or will they? |

generally, no, because it's a very bad idea.
The problems caused by IUDs often happen due to STDs which can happen no matter how awesome you are about saftey in non-monogamous situations. |

| But it all seems SOOO illogical to me, as the pill doesn't protect against anything above and beyond IUDs. I think it's just Old Man Doctor Thinking. Oh well, I don't want an IUD anyways. There's too much middle-aged woman stigma attached to them! |

| i don't guess i explained that very well, what i meant was if you get an STD while you have an IUD very bad things can happen. |
