| I actually really like split shifts. I live 20 minutes walk from work in one direction and the city centre is 25 minutes in the other direction. I see friends in the middle of the day, go swimming in my pool, read, study Spanish or whatever. Once you past the idea of split shifts, they're really quite fun. |

If I lived in lovely Cuernavaca and could walk to work in 20 minutes, I would like split shifts too! But when you live in the D.F. and split shifts mean traveling an hour in each direction to get to a one- or two-hour- business class, then they're exhausting. |

| Right. This works much better if you live close to the school(s), either walking or a short bus ride. I walked only a few short blocks to the Uni where I was doing split shifts. It took me maybe 6 or 8 minutes to get there. (And the beach was only one minute in the other direction, but that's beside the point). Unfortunately my job moved away; clear across the city to a larger, newer building. Traffic and bus transfers would have made the trip ugly, and there was nowhere to park a car easily. I weighed the pay vs time and hassle involved and decided against it. I honestly don't know how those of you in Mexico City do it. Hats off to you. Do you take siestas on the bus? |

The students are nice. The teachers are nice. The only problem is that the director of studies is an angry little man who shouts at students and teachers. Apparently, he has no problem shouting at a teaher in front of his/her students. Total powertrip.
So, if you can stay out his way, Vancouver is a pretty good place to work. |
