Hi, I'm your neighbour to the North, well North and west actually. I live on Vancouver island. I am taking the TEFL at a local university in Canada.
I know that the CELTA course from Cambridge is supposed to be more widely accepted around the globe, however when i compared the curriculum from the Celta course to the TEFL course that i'm taking, it was almost identical. The only difference i could see was that the Celta course seemed to be more geared totally towards adults but the Tefl course was more general.
I don't know if the Cambridge course would open more doors for employment, i would assume that it's where you want to work in the world and the skills and degrees you already hold that will make a difference.
You might want to check out the "Continuing Education Courses" at the universities and see what they offer. This is where the TEFL course was listed for me.. Good Luck..
