I lived for a few months in Kisarazu City, just north of Kimitsu.

The good things - life moves at a slow pace, it's green forested in parts, and you can see the stars at night.

Great cycling there. See bikely - http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/country/122

About trains - Uchibo Line gets you to Chiba Station in 45 minutes. Uchibo and Sobu Lines put you in Ueno in 1 hour 30 minutes. Type stations into www.hyperdia.com.

Chiba Prefecture takes up most of the Boso Peninsula. Some things to read about Boso:

The private stuff I can PM...

In general it's good to see there is foreign life in Kimitsu, the city's English website hasn't been updated since 2004 Rolling Eyes .

I guess I'm just wondering if there's anything to do there...if there's any kind of nightlife, hiking trails, whatever. Friendly people? Clean? How are the cities nearby... Kisarazu? You name it, I'd love to know. I can't find any info on the place whatsoever.

The tunnel to Tokyo by bus is this super expensive? Thanks for any info..

Sorry for the late reply. Busy lately and stuff.

Nightlife in Kimitsu is a bit limited. The streets are pretty dead by 10 pm. There's one of the big chain izakayas by the station, as well as a couple nice bars. Mostly it's a lot of small izakayas and snack pubs (hostess bars.) Kisarazu has a couple cool bars as well as more of the chain izakayas.

"Downtown" Kimitsu is pretty clean as far as the streets go. The air is kind of dirty because of the nearby factories/plants.

However, Kimitsu city itself is really wide, as as you get further out into the countryside it gets really rural, lots of hills, etc. There's a nice small mountain in the next town to the south for some hiking.

People are generally friendly, but I'm Asian and blend in. My non-Asian foreigner friends have been received pretty well also though.

The bus to Tokyo is actually slightly cheaper than the train. The train to Tokyo Station is 1450, the bus is 1400. Last bus from Tokyo is 10:55, almost the same as the last train.

Any other questions please feel free to ask here, or for more private stuff you can either PM or e-mail me -- i've temporarily got my e-mail address displayed.
