In the second part of the listening section, does anyone know why we have to mark the wrong answers, and not just the correct answer like in the first section? It just seems like extra work to me, but I figure there must be some reason for it, but can't think for the life of me what it is!

So that everyone is writing something during every listening answer choice. Otherwise, if you didn't know what was going on, you could watch and just wait until everyone hears the correct answer to put their pencil to the paper.

Thanks for that. That makes sense, although I usually wait until I've heard all 4 before I start filling in.

why do you say "I wrote the (naninani) kyuu"? I am just curious, is that what you say when you take this certain type of test? So instead of saying "I took the (naninani) kyuu" you say "I wrote the (naninani) kyuu"....just wondering what that means...

I think it depends on which country you come from as to whether you say write/take a test. I think I used both in previous posts. Some American friends and I were discussing that on the train down to take the test last year. I think Canadians say one, and Americans say another. I tend to interchange them. I noticed a New Zealander said took, so maybe took is a Commomwealth thing. Not so sure. In both cases though, it means you did a test.

I took the 2-kyu this year and the first section, Characters and Vocabulary, and the third section, Reading and Grammar, seemed to be a breeze. This was my first time to ever take the JLPT, so I did previous years' test questions with my teacher to prep for it, and the Listening was really easy then, but for some reason I felt like I was guessing between two answers on about 40% of the questions at the test. I don't know if this year's Listening was harder or I just wasn't able to focus, perhaps because I was in a room full of people rather than it just being me and my teacher. I'm 95% sure I passed, though that 5% of doubt is really irritating and I wish they'd grade the tests a lot sooner.

On other sites a lot of people have said the 2kyuu listening was hard this time. I actually thought it was okay, but that's probably fasle confidence Confused

The 2-kyu was actually harder than I thought.
I think I aced the listening and reading parts,
but the last part....grammar was it?...I barely finished on time. I had about 10 questions left with like 5 minutes to go...

I'm pretty sure I passed.
I would like to take 1-kyu, but honestly this test doesn't mean much when it comes to working in Japan.
Most interviews for good companies are conducted in Japanese and that's when they really test your Japanese ability. 1-kyu and 2-kyu is just a piece of paper.
