Well, it's only 6 months. Can always turn 6 months in hell but that largely depends on you. Can you ask for a sample contract so that you know what to expect? Is there a probation period when you can terminate the contract if you see things are not going well?

As for TEFL and language business being two different things, there is one thing that proves it is not always so: language courses make money. They don't teach for charity purposes. So, hiring qualified staff is important!

Every detail of this offer suggests to me that 6 months may likely be too long. And since they expect you to pay them up front... a half month's pay you said. I fear that you will never see a visa... and never see your money again.

Granted your credentials are very limited, but go with a company that people here have at least heard of...

This looks way too much like a scam to me.

I do not think they are asking for the money up front.

" They are an employment agency and they will take out 1/2 (HALF!) of my first months salary and it will go to the recruiting agency," says the OP.

I would still hesitate to go with them.

PM me if you would like other suggestions about employment.

I would be for the case where employers pay recruiting agencies. As for teachers, you don't have to pay any agency to get a job, just advertise well, use your contacts, e-mail companies directly.

Well, the guy did ask me if I wanted him to pay him up front the half months salary or if I would like them to take it out of my first months salary.

But, I think you guys are correct. I should stay away from this place.

I mean come on, I had to call him long distance from my phone just to get the ball rolling.

Any other school suggestions in KSA or elsewhere in oil-rich Muslim countries?

Thank you everyone for all the help.

If you have
1. a university degree
2. TEFL certification
3. minimum 2 years experience in Teaching EFL/ESOL

You should be able to get a proper job in KSA

But remember that KSA is not for everyone. Some people do not fit in here at all.

One disadvantage - the architecture in Saudi Arabia is poor.
And things are not finished properly.

Hey, I just got an e-mail from the employer after I turned down the offer and he said he thinks the company already issued a WORK visa and he hopes I change my mind because it cost them some money.

How could they possibly issue a work visa already?

I thaught this is a legthly process.

Quite simple: they could not have.

As I've pointed out before at least once on this thread, you cannot simply be 'issued' with a working visa without you even having applied for one. The whole idea is utterly nonsensical. Anyway, companies don't issue visas - the embassy does, but only with the explicit permission of the MFA.

You may continue to deal with this joke of an 'agency' if you so wish, but don't come back in three months' time only for us to say "we told you so".

Here is what the guy wrote me in an e-mail:

"Any Visa can be issued in the same day. This kind of visa so fast because the work requires English native speakers, so no need for the government to check if there are Saudi legible for the work. The visa issued already the company just now asked me when are you to be here in Saudi Arabia. I told them that you may have changed your mind to come to Saudi Arabia. Yes you can change your mind if you wish not to come but you will cost the company about 500 USD for the visa they did for you. Moreover, you will lose the opportunity to visit the holy mosque of Makah. I really wish you can make it and come. If you agree to come the company wants you to be here ASAP as the course has already started. PLEASE REPLY WITH YOUR FINAL ANSWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE."

Any more thoughts on this possible scam?

For god's sake, don't you get the message?

Look, we've told you what we think of these scam merchants from the very first post. If you insist on holding out some hope that they are in any way reputable, please don't keep asking us to justify your stupidity.
