				| If you wear athletic shoes --- be sure they're not the shoes that were recently banned (apparently, the tread pattern found on some confiscated shoes in Al Ain resembles Arabic calligraphy ---- and you don't want to know what the tread appears to say).
Khaleej Times has the entire story.

				| This little tale comes around few years. Just like the Christians who can see Jesus or Mary in their toast or in a knothole in a tree... you have Muslims who can see words in a squiggle of lines on the bottoms of shoes or the arrangements of seeds in a fruit. The maker of the cast for the shoe bottoms somewhere in China is hardly likely to know Arabic...
 You're probably right kiefer.

				| Ladies,
thanks for all the links about sandals - it really gives me hope - my feet have so many broken bones in them from childhood when I was stepped on by horses a lot - (!) - now that I'm older my knees are giving out also - sandals are something I long to wear but as stated, have difficulty walking or standing in for long periods because of their design.

I came back to this thread and was amazed to see all the different sandals out there - !
