Cool!! I am just now reading you are going to Indonesia AFTER ALL!!! Good choice,, lol....
If you make it to Medan, I'll probably be there!!!
Also, here is a relatively new English Schools someone told me about that was hiring in Jogja when I passed through. I think they said the starting pay was about 5Million, but who knows....

I have been reading both your threads re new jobs and 'realistic' salary expectations, and haven't responded because I didn't think you were serious.
Now you have really decided to visit Indonesia, just a couple of words of advise. Firstly, you will not make the type of salary you are used to earning in Korea!! Come to Indonesia to experience the lifestyle (and enjoy, I hope!). You should earn enough to enjoy a good lifestyle here, but you definitely won't be saving anything.
Secondly, and this relates only to my experience in Medan. Be careful about just looking at the up front salary figures. Go into the schools and ask what additional benefits are on offer, e.g. free housing, free utility bills, end of contract bonus, return airfare etc. Some of the top payers in Medan do not offer housing etc., which will take a big chunk out of your money if you have to find housing yourself, and they avoid paying the end of contract bonus (a legal requirement in Indonesia by the way) by claiming that it is covered by the return airfare bonus.
Good luck. |
