Hi!

Would definitely recommend applying for jobs here in Europe as opposed to applying for jobs from the USA.

Any school which cares about the quality of teachers on their staff will always want to see a demo lesson and this is needed to be completed in person.

If you are TEFL/TESOL/CELTA qualified then it is also in your best interests to come see the school in person before committing to a teaching contract.
As long as you are active in your search you should expect to find teaching work quickly.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for that advice, I was afraid of traveling all over and not finding work, and thus not being able to get a visas and having to return home epmty handed. Does it matter what time of year I'm there applying???

Normal contracts for the region are Sept/Oct thru June. It's a good idea to get here in late August or the first of September.

Yes, the main hiring time is September/October with the second busiest hiring time in January.
As with the Czech Republic it isn't exactly that difficult to find teaching work at any time of the year if you actively search and are professional in your approach. Schools are taking on new client students throughout the year and teachers tend not to stay for the whole school year; thus creating the year-round teacher demand.
August though is dead, except for summer camps, and I recommend just upping up in August and going out and seeing Europe.

Snow here in Prague today!
