????? What constitutes well-built in Saudi terms?

In Saudi terms, it means a physique obtained after decades of eating white rice, white bread, meat, and sticky oily desserts.

For prototypical physiques, see top 2 members of the Saudi Royal Famliy, as well as latest deceased monarch.

Cool

I think most women find your first choice - even if not Ahnold - to be rather creepy looking and not attractive at all. There can be too much of a good thing. Definitely number 2... but I would have to adopt him. Laughing

Now... where is that famous picture of JohnSlat?? Shocked

Dear veiledsentiments,

If someone can tell me how to paste a photo on here, I'll be glad to post the (in)famous picture (I found it - where else? - in The Dictionary of Narcissistic Geezers.)

Regards,
John

Ah, I think I figured out a way - try the link below, please:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/20230589@N02

Well, not quite - but when you get there, if you click on "here's a link to the home page", that should take you there - inshallah.

Of course, that photo was taken in the IPA gym in Riyadh ten years ago.

I'm ever so much buffer (is that a word?) than that now - in my dreams.

Regards,
John

Is johnslat imagining all this ? I get NO PICTURE AVAILABLE when I try it. Ah well I am not realy turned on by pictures of half-naked men in their 60's anyway.

So it goes.

OK - strange, though because the link works for me.

However, it response to the overwhelming popular demand (with the exception of scot47 - does your posting mean we're breaking up?)
I will valiantly give it one more (and, to your relief, last) try:

http://www.theapple.com/account/photos/view_album/10086

This SHOULD take you to a link where you will see not only more of me than you ever wanted to, but some other photos of some of my family, my wife, Mary Ann, my step-son, Robert, great-grandson Julian, and the three critters, Phu Bai, Tenzie (short for Tenzing Norgay) the dogs, and Archer, the Cat.

If you click on the photo of The Narcissistic Geezer, you'll get a full-size picture of me in all my raging splendor.

Warning: Not for those under 18 or those with weak stomachs.

Regards,
John

Ah Ha!! ...the 20s or 30s is another story then? So the offer of teaching me to 'rell' was merely a ploy to throw people off? (on another thread for those who are now completely confused...)

That website does try to make you join in order to see the full sized pictures. Having had the pleasure of meeting Mr Slat and his bride a couple years back, I can assure 007 that he looks nothing like Bill C other than having the same hair color. I would describe him as 'distinguished' looking just as in the wedding photos. Cool

Dear 007,
Bill Clinton, you say - well I'd rather resemble him than Dubya.

And hey - I'm very glad you joined TheApple. I think it's quite a good site and I completely agree with you regarding Mr. Bibo. I've read all his articles and found them to be always very well-written, thoughtful, and interesting.
The man knows teaching and how to write about it.

Dear veiled sentiments,

Thanks for the kind words - but distinguished looking or not, a geezer is still a geezer (but, while getting old isn't always fun, it surely beats the only other alternative.)
Tenzie certainly IS cute, which, when he has the "puppy crazies" may be the only thing that saves him.
During a recent episode of those "crazies", I asked Mary Ann, " Do you think we're too old to have children?"

Regards,
John

I didn't think the idea of being ''well-built'' actually existed in KSA. The young men I taught seemed to be either emaciated or obese. Most were smokers. I remember one corpulent brute complaining that he only had ten minutes to go downstairs, smoke his cigarette and then climb one flight of stairs to get back to class.
A lot of water will go under the bridge before Saudi sportsmen shine on the world stage.

Dear sheikh,
The "idea" may exist, but the reality is few and far between. In my classes, the "City Saudis" tended to run to fat whereas the Bedu were usually lean but sinewy.
However, I do believe I detected a slowly growing "cult" of gym club, work-out types before I left Riyadh.
Certainly there were more gyms in the city than there had been just a few years previously.

John

Body-building has indeed arrived in KSA. Still a minority taste though. I am not sure how the Mutawwa regard these devotees of the "Body Beutiful". Probably with as much distaste as I do !

Here in Spain they are certainly interested in being ''well-built'' and having a beautiful body. I've just got a glimpse of the ''Miss Spain'' contest.
One really wonders. Who on earth can find this kind of dross entertaining? Who could possibly believe that this has merit and is not, in fact, offensive? Saudi may be awful but......

Dear sheikh,

"Who on earth can find this kind of dross entertaining?"

Unfortunately, millions, if not hundreds of millions or even billions, I'm sorry to say.

Sex sells - always has, always will.

John
