Well, I think with an MSc in engineering, and with UAEU, I guess the position will be a Lecturer or may be a teaching assistant!
Now, if you are an Egyptian residing in Egypt, your contract will be from Egypt, and I guess your max salary will be around DH7500 if you are lucky. If you are a native speaker of one of the Western countries with blue/green eyes, and holding the red passport, then the term of contract are different, and your salary, I guess, will be around DH12500 plus benefits.

To get a salary of Dh15000 or more with UAEU, you need at least to have a PhD with several years of experience, and the position is at least for Associate or full professor (also the salary and benefits will depends on the type of your passport).

There seems to be a repeat problem (just like Cleopatra's much earlier on, on the Saudi forum) with the PM feature in recent days. My problem is - "Stuck in the outbox, you send another one, yet stuck in the OB, you send yet another one and bang! All of them go out together resulting in multiple PMs".

I've reported this on the Saudi forum.

Mods., please help.

Regards,

Lall.

Hi Ricoz,
Never heard from you since... Did you receive the offer letter or you are still waiting? Any details about the package?

Regards

Response from dean in a couple of days and no response from HR in over two weeks!!! A little strange. I thought they were very quick.

My visa process has already started with a Saudi university so I am even thinking of canceling the VC. As for my offer with Saudi university, they are paying around 12K/m SAR + 2K/m housing + transportation allowance and other standard stuff. However, I believe the cost of living is way cheaper than anywhere in UAE.

Well, if you are happy with the above salary and benefits with the SA university, then I think you should stick to it and forget about the UAE job.

This is simply wrong. There are teachers in UGRU who earn more than 15000 and they have just Masters degrees. Senior (prof etc) staff earn way more than that in the Faculties.

HR is a bit slow at present though. Nudge the department recruiting you to find out about salary. One area among many where UAEU could do with being a bit more transparent - a pay-range quoted in the job ad would be nice....

No, its not wrong. I have a lot of friends in Faculty who earn less than I do in UGRU and they are from the West. Humanities and Social Sciences are notoriously underpaid but that will all change at the end of this month according to HR

My point was that there are people without PhDs etc who do earn more than 15k/month. e.g. plenty in UGRU. Senior Faculty earn way more, full professors/chairs can be on four times that in some Faculties.

Assistant Professors start fairly low but the increments are bigger than in UGRU (where some get no increments at all) and you can get promoted to Associate Professor if you keep your research going.

Teaching assistant posts which is what 007 suggested Ricoz would be on are reserved for Emiratis as far as I know and the payscale is generous but not relevant to any expat.

Instructor posts are for people with Masters only. No idea about payscale.

Arabantics is right, Faculty of Humanities is the poor relation - not where UAEU priorities lie, in fact a few years ago there was even talk of closing the faculty altogether.
