There is one teacher on the forum who I think is making more, but she's got a relavent MA.

In some parts of Mexico, immigration will want to see a university degree.

Quote:
A BA shows you completed courses in college. Unless you majored in education it doesn't make you a better teacher.

Even a degree in education will not necessarily make you a better teacher. Most people who don't have BA's are very defensive about it being "just a piece of paper". Beyond showing that you completed courses it shows you sticked with something that wasn't easy, you learned to work well in a system, you learned to express yourself (both verbally and written) well, and you learned to manage your time inspite of a million attractive distractions.

Very well expressed Melee.

I think a B.A. and certificate to teach English is the minimum for me to peronally feel qualified to teach.

I don't know what "vales" are...

So, let's see. You teach Mon to Fri, from around 9am to 3pm, highschool and elementary. Is that at 2 different schools then? Maybe more? Do you also do private tutoring, or anything else of the side?

That is a great salary from what I've seen. Congrats. You're in Mexico City, right? I believe you posted on my topic about rent costs, saying you and your wife pay around 2500...

Thanks for the openness.

No prob! I only work at one school. In Mexico many private schools have several levels in one school/place. At my school we have everything from pre-school up to high school. I have planned, scheduled classes in middle and high school. I work in elementary school as a conversation teacher. It adds up to a good salary. I was teaching business classes for $175 pesos per hour, but I was getting too tired doing that as well. I helped a friend of mine take those classes over and he's doing a great job now.

BTW vales are great! They spend like cash at places like Wal-Mart and since I use them to pay for things like groceries and weekly needs I save my cash for other things.

But, M. Guy, I thought you'd be pleased that I contributed the correct spelling of a loan-word from French!

S---! Are we of drinking age, or still fighting in the playground? I better stop now, before I revert back to pulling pigtails!

Life is too important to nitpick over things like spelling.

This proud nitpicker (and demon translator/editor/proofreader) respectfully disagrees. Smile

critique! haha, kidding, kidding, in general i don't even capitalize on the internet.

and i think prof may have been joking.

I will say that if you have mozilla it will spell check everything in most text boxes, some it doesn't and i think they are usually the kind that use flash, or something. it does work in this one, however.

Ah, another convert! Who, in their right mind, would continue using Explorer? Easy folk to spot for the spell checker...
