Yes, thanks for the input - interesting and useful. I'm not familiar with the EO system and would be very grateful for any further info on this - perhaps it's something my wife could pursue (she has fluent Spanish and full QTS).
For myself, given my present inclinations and the locality (quite high in the Sierra) I doubt I'll be doing much to do with teaching, so I'm all ears for ideas outside of the education sector. As I'm already involved in media (writing and editing) in HK, I'm especially keen to hear of any success stories in that line of work. A couple of English expats have already started up an English language news and features magazine for the region, which on the one hand means that door is already closed but on the other I may be able to get some freelance work from them...Certainly for the first year or two I expect I'll be doing whatever I can to make ends meet - and I guess that may yet include some private teaching. |
