Are you in Glogow Wielkapolska?

If you are, get yourself down to Poznan at the weekends. 'The Frolic Goats Hostel' is cheap if you don't mind a youth hostel. Go to 'Coxy's Bar' on Wodna, off the Rynek and hit 'Dragon' round about 10pm...you'll meet loads of expats and those 2 bars aren't expensive, which is rare in Poznan.

You sound a bit young and homesick to me.

Also, don't date Polish men. They have no dress sense, behave like a-holes when they're drunk and skrew about. They also have long pockets and very short arms!

That's why us Brits do so well with their women; we're refined, educated, funny, we buy rounds and we're reputedly the best lovers outside the 'orient'. Unlike our allies from across the pond.

Look, all the places I mentioned are on the skinflint's list:)
The hostel is about 100Zl/night, beer in Coxy's and Dragon is 6.5Zl, the train is about 30Zl...so do a Fri/Sat night job and you'll only spend 230Zl on accommodation and transport....the rest is upto you. You could be all in for about 500Zl!!

hahahahaha!

why don't you just get it over with Biff, and just start your own thread with something like this:

"Hi, Biff here. I just wanted to set the record straight. I have alot of money.....lots of money. More money than you have. I'm british which usually coaxes Polish women into bed with me. What can I say, they dig the accent, dig my money. For all you Yankees who think you can compete with my severe coolness, think again! I'm a high roller, I eat in the nicest restaurants, drink the finest spirits........hell, I'm such a pimp, I buy 16 zl. pints of Guinness and pay the bartender 20 for it! That's how completely HOT I am! So to all you single ladies out there (I take that back, marital status not important) who want a REAL man, a british man, a man I know YOU want, look no further. The Biff-ster is here."

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I don't think anyone with as much class, taste and deportment would ever refer to themselves as "Biffster."

i know a girl living in Wroclaw, she's canadian. same age as you, only she's a fluent Polish speaker, just here for a year to kinda have a really long vacation before starting up school again.

if you're in a tiny town like that, and you can't speak Polish well, it's gonna leave you with very little options regarding entertainment.

Hi
In my first year teaching, I also plunged into a small town in the south east of Poland.
The school, and most likely the town, had four native English speakers, two of which were married and kept themselves to themselves so I was left to hang around with the other guy from school, who I actually got on very well with. I beg your pardon, there was also a peculiar English jehovah's witness in the town who I chose not to mingle with.
I have been learning Polish for three years, but it wasn't exactly hot when I was in the town. However, I just put myself out there, showed off my pool skills in the local bar. and eventually made a few mates. Times were indeed lonely- I also started to socialise with my students.
I worked incredibly hard, sometimes in school for ten hours a day, and there has to be something more than going home after work and watching a load Poles jabber away on the TV.
You may discover you will become a local celebrity- in my town there were not many English guys who hussled pool until the wee hours and rode a pink bike with flat tires down the main road. My only excuse- the bike was free and got me quickly down the hills.

happy days

I pity your plight as I have heard of many foreigners feeling very isolated in small cities.Sorry I can offer no advice only to suggest that you should consider moving on to a large city as quickly as possible, if only for your own sanity
