1. I would not have gone to Japan with the 'friend' I went with.
2. I would have left Nova after one year and come to HK when I saw the NET advert the FIRST time
3. Not have been so stupid with money when I first started teaching, which is part of the reason I left Canada to go to Japan...money.
However, those oopsies have lead me to where am I now and I *love* where I am now. I am able to save way more than I was saving in Japan and I am able to think more long term.  |

For the most part, I think things have worked out pretty well. In other words, I don't think I should have done too many things differently. Now I sometimes think that maybe I should've made the move to teaching EFL about 10 years sooner than I did. However, when I consider all factors, expecially my financial situation earlier in my teaching career, the switch to TEFL 10 years sooner wouldn't have been very practical.
The only other thing that comes to mind is that perhaps I should have tested out other locations in Mexico. I rather quickly found a job that I liked and have stuck with it. Unfortunately, it doesn't allow me much opportunity to explore other parts of the country as I'd hoped to do. |
