My visa was delayed.
I checked with employers representative that the delay would not affect my salary start date.
The are not honouring that communication.
So I'm out of 5 days pay because of their disorganisation.
Gutted.

Spying and witch hunting seems to be a common occurence in Technical Colleges in Oman. I assume they are all under the umbrella of MOHE Oman.

I finished working in this college a few months ago. I watched other staff being witchhunted by college administration. Support for staff was minimal but we were the ones held responsible by administration and students if things did not quite go the way they wanted ie. high marks for students without any real work form the students in question.

Hawthorn - our 'employer' - knew all about this but did nothing to support us and wer only there when the college admin considered that we had done something wrong. The adminisatration support got plenty of things wrong when i was there but that was a different matter. If we were perceived to have gotten things wrong then there was hell to pay for teachers.

There was also exam fraud going on while I was there too. This was sanctioned by the Dean under pressure from students who would go to him en masse when they considered that exam and assignment results were not high enough for them. This happened even when students had passed. often students would head for the dean's office to 'report' on teachers whom they took a dislike to.

Teacher's were basically just low paid 'cannon fodder' for the students and college adminstration to abuse and take their frustrations and falings out on.

It was a horrific experience and I would never work in Oman again. I have also gone completely out of teaching as an occupation. I will NEVER teach again.

So what are you going to do now?
It's my dream to go out of teaching too; what's more I think the best move one should perform within the garden of teaching is a move out of the garden of teaching.
Good luck, even if you do not bother to answer.
