| I think the person wondering about IAT needs to tell about qualifications. If you have a relevant MA, IAT is not the place for you. However, if the quals a minimal, then maybe IAT is a good start. |

Right on tek44 and I would like to add on a top of an MA, a teaching qualification which has a Practicum of minimum of 14-observed teaching weeks, then we talk about first class institutions in the UAE.
With a first degree and a TESOL/EFL certificate, IAT is a good fit cause ain't going anywhere with these qualifications these days in the UAE.
Hope this helps. |

Many of the more recent IAT posts have been deleted.
Salaries are low, support from management (if that's what you can call them)is equally low, curriculum changes on a weekly basis as management changes their mind, results are played with to suit what is required by teachers, terrible things go on in admin, people are fired for no reason or hired with no qualifications - it's a really bad place with low morale.
In summary, IAT is a terrible place to work. There is one person on this forum (who I am sure will appear sooner or later) who will totally disagree with me. I would rather tell you the truth as prospective applicants for the IAT should be discouraged from joining.
KUSTAR is the IAT university. The guy recruiting for KUSTAR is one of the big wigs in the IAT Directorate. MA/Phd salaries 9200 AED per month/accommodation under 100K per annum.
Take a word of advice and stay well clear. Most western employees have left from many of the campuses this year for good reasons. IAT is reverting back to the old technical school - keep away! |

That salary doesnt make sense, as I know for a fact that they are offereing almost double that for a BA and CELTA including accommodation allowance.
I am trying to ascertain whether the two new colleges they are opening in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi are different to their high schools.

You meant that they are offering 18,000 AED/A month for an English teacher who has a first degree and a CELTA . Are you sure? Even the best institutions in the UAE that require an MA + Minimum 3 years of experience do not offer this salary.
I don't buy it |

I'm pretty sure we've had this discussion before. That 18,000 is something like 9000 base plus 9000 housing. Not so much money when you're renting a flat in Abu Dhabi. |

Then, it is 9000 AED/A month and we usually never count housing allowance . Just FYI.
9000 is really low based on the UAE market & inflation. |

IAT does not pay anyone 18000 AED. Anything close to this is made up of an accommodation allowance and base salary - based on a married couple working in one of the bigger campuses (Dubai or Abu Dhabi).
The base salary for a new employee at IAT with a CELTA or without (they do take without) is less than 9000 AED. I knew some teachers there on 8000AED.
I know for a fact that KUSTAR is the IAT University and that the salaries offered are 9200 AED. |

Hi
Thanks. You are correct. Oman pays better than Khalifa/IAT and that is probably where I will end up. I appreciate the contributions of everyone, now I unerstand the big picture. |

| Well the new institutes they are opening in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are offering considerably more than 9000 a month with a low accommodation allowance. I also know this for a fact and have seen the offer for myself. A BA and CELTA gets you around 11 -12000. On top of that is not so great an accommodation allowance. |

Well that's a different story to what the person recruiting for the new institutions told everyone at IAT. The new institutions are following the normal IAT payscale, as do the special projects such as the Aviation Academy and Logistics Academy.
Base 9200 AED/Accommodation 78000AED for Abu Dhabi and Dubai with the possibility of a slight increase for next year. |

Shady, shady outfit!
Don't cover your medical properly, don't pay your gratuity right. Mess around with your days off sick. Lie to you to keep you in the dark.
Mickey Mouse individuals observing you in the middle management ranks, who have no knowledge of education or managment responsibilities. Somebody turned around and thought let's advertise an institute in a rich glossy fashion. We'll pickpocket every buzz word and secondary education concept we can, market it and then pull the carpet out from under the student/parents/teachers feet!
This place is image based
Some very very good people trying to steer this boat in a more professional manner. Respect! They pay on time.
And that is IAT. FACT! |
