Thanks, Hangedman. The salary is equitable for international schools, and for the reasons HM writes.
I prefer working for these international projects because they provide a comfort zone for foreign staff, and there is a stronger sense of community at the workplace.
Happy lecturers yield happy students.
The reason I mentioned unfriendliness is because this is a good job offer the OP has been given and I don't think it deserved any damper thrown on it. The OP is new to the area and should know that his offer is not shabby on any standard.
And even though the cost of living has risen, this salary should provide a family of three with comforts similar to wages earned in the Gulf States. |

You should be able to save around 10,000 a month and still live quite well, though you would have to restrain yourself a little to do that. I think it comes down to how much foreign food you want and how expensive your little trips are.
Sounds like the offer is from Rego. Have you spoken to toher teachers there? |

Thanks for all the replies so far.
Yes, it is the Rego. Had email teniis with 2 of the teachers and its a good gig. Another bonus is that I received the hard copy of the contract today and it states.......Holidays, 16 weeks and 4 days annually, paid, plus national holidays.  |
