Heh, hey keitepai.
Unfortunately, I only really know the general legalities of registering, and specific information about high school in W.A - given I'm originally from Victoria, and doing the Dip Ed in W.A. to become a high school teacher.
However! I can tell you that in Vic there's a prep class, followed by grades 1 - 6, all of which falls under the banner of Primary School, and all of which take place on the one campus. High school is then years 7 - 12. (I realise y'didn't actually ask about Vic, but more info is always useful. Right? Right?!)
In W.A., there appears to be a prep year, although from what I gather, some people call it prep, others call it pre-primary. Then grades 1 - 7 are also considered Primary School, and years 8 - 12 are High School (which bemused me immensely when I first arrived, and realised I'd be learning to teach 8 - 12... I was all: what happened to year 7?! Ahem.)
Sooo... to answer, yeah, there seems to be the prep equivalent.
I actually have a friend doing the B.Ed in primary education, who would be able to clear this up... but she's away for another week. Feel free to PM me with any more q's if you want, and I'll see what she says when she gets back. |
