OK, so next time some student gives me grief I just gotta dig deep and shout 'You're FIRED!', just like Sir Alan Sugar. Ideally, will do his patented right index finger jab at the same time, but this could be difficult if holding a piece of chalk.

It's not next time your students gives you grief but next time your student gives you grief for the hundredth time. If I kept firing students that easily I'd be out of business. It's a type of natural selection and aura compatiblity.

Ah yes, that makes things read better:

OK, so next time some student gives me grief (especially if it's for the umpteenth time) I just gotta dig deep and shout 'You're FIRED!', just like Sir Alan Sugar. Ideally, will do his patented right index finger jab at the same time, but this could be difficult if holding a piece of chalk.

Still, my idol Sir Alan of Sugary Beetroot does seem to have a bit of a short fuse sometimes...

New sub-thread: what offences that students (and that includes spanking-new ones) make would deserve immediate firing, without any notice? Twisted Evil

I've had to "fire" several, in more than one country. (I wouldn't use the word- "fire" to me is part of an employer/employee relationship. And most of these I'd never have hired, if it were that kind of thing)

Reasons include.

Unreliability. (About attendance or paying)
Arriving drunk. (It isn't better than not coming!)
Abusive behaviour. (Towards teacher or other students)
Sexual harassment. (Likewise.)
Racist remarks. (Not refering here to the kind that may be down to cultural differences- that, we try to educate. But racial abuse is going to be very short lived.)
Recklessness. (Children who can't be trusted not to endager themselves and others.)
Destruction of property.
Theft.
Blaming me, or the institute, for their lack of progress.

Best,
Justin

No, fired them from the paid obligation to attend my lessons.
Which hopefully didn't include one on the correct use of the verb 'to fire'.

Reasons to add to Justin's: 1) playing a smart a** 2) being a sissy 'I don't want this I don't want that' 3) teaching me how to teach: 'I don't need grammar, me needs speaking fast fast fast!' (beginner students).
