| Sorry, no! But it's widely available, in Sanborns for example. Thinking about it now, I don't even know if it's fiction or non-fiction! |

| Isabel Moctezuma is a novel by Eugenio Aguirre. Haven't read it though, and perhaps won't. Fiction is not my cup of tea when it comes to history. |

Thinking about the double meaning of "historia" in Spanish (both "history"and "story"), reminds me that I love both historical fiction, provided it's deeply grounded in historical fact, and history that reads like a novel, that tells a good story. |

Nice wording for what is my cup of tea: history that reads like a novel. Thanks, MO! |

"Has there never been a 'Book Exchange' meeting of sorts? Would a Book and Beers get together interest anyone?" says Gary Denness.
Yes!
Especially on a Sunday afternoon. In a Cantina.
Anyone? |

Yes, Gary and sweeney, I'm up for a book exchange meeting (hmmm - never been in a cantina before - I thought that only women of ill-repute hung out in places like that ). My only problem is that I don't have many books here to exchange. |

I think we'd need more than the three of us to make it a worthwhile event...is no one else up for this at all? |

| I'm up for it, though I tend to read mostly non-fiction political stuff. |

Me too!
What are some books on Mexico that you or anybody else can recommend? Hopefully that I can buy here.
I have already read a few books, but I would like to read a lot more about Mexico, especially history and politics. Anything on the Mexican state since 1810 or modern Mexico.
I am sorry but I remember that there was a thread a while back and some people were referring to a book about Mexico City written by an ex-pat or other Gringo type. But I can not seem to find the thread and I don't remember the name of the book. Can anyone help me out? Thanks |

| I read mostly well-written "mysteries", both classic (A. Conan Doyle, Dorothy Sayers, Agatha Christie) and contemporary (P.D. James, Henning Mankell), though I have been known to borrow one of Guy's political tomes. |

| 5 is getting closer to a worthwhile number. Could always do it in the bar or the Hostal Cathedral...you never know, maybe a few tourists will join in! |
