You obviously have a good point and I don't want to put anyone's back up, it really is just that I feel the need to get myself qualified rather than learn how to do it. At the same time I can of course learn something new from all kinds of situations but if I could continue working and earning just as much without paying the price for a course, well, I would.
Incidentally, Equador sounds fun too, maybe I will end up in South America sooner than later. How is it on the greater scale of things?
Thanks for your answers, I will check out CELTA and SIT TEFL and see how they seem.

I have never had to kick one, and they rarely scream.
Though I'm not a big fan of that grammar bone up- my participants have to learn HOW to investigate grammar, and prove they've learned it through a research project on a specific grammar point. Then they're on their own. I can't teach all of English grammar in four weeks, and I'm not trying. They come off our course with the skills to do the rest on their own.
Ecuador, to respond to another question: If you're into natural beauty, friendly people, dancing, scenery, hiking, sports, and a great time, it kicks *beep*.
If you're into earning money that means something in any other economy...it's not that great.
Just the facts, folks.
