Saudıa Cıty ıs a huge compound wıth more than 3000 'Housıng Unıts'. İt ıs quıte a distance from the Saudı-German Hospıtal. The bıg compound near there ıs Arabıan Homes. Raytheon also had (have ?) a place near that hospıtal.

I left Jeddah ın the summer of 2002 becasue I was gettıng near retırement age. The aırlıne lets people go at age 58 years and 4 months.

Yeah, Scot, I'm aware. The compound to which I alluded is the compound where Raytheon is. We used to have a common entrance to the Arabian Homes. I was with Raytheon from 2002-4, but had to end the employment as I was separated from my family for 10 loooog months. The English crew there was peppered with idiots.

NCTBA...my two years at Raytheon preceded yours by exactly 10 years. At that time the EFL crew was peppered more with arrogant people than idiots. Their in-house "million-dollar curriculum" was idiotic, however, and was jettisoned soon enough.

As a devout pedestrian İ measure distance by walking time. İt seems that you are lıke the Saudis, an enthusıast for the inetrnal (or ıinfernal) combustion engıne.

I love walking too, but unfortnately, Saudi cities are not setup for walking, and the weather is just too bad most of the year, at least in Jeddah. The humidity... yuck!

And if you really were a devout pedestrian, then walking from Saudia City to SGH would be cake, something like 30-45 minutes max. You can't call yourself a 'devout pedestrian' unless you can easily walk for an hour without complaint! Wink

you can board at riyadh vets, office 01-4568736, worker salim 0551880551. i haven't seen the dogs' part, but i had 2 cats with them for a couple of weeks. it wasn't ideal; i'm quite sure they were not happy, but what to do? in that time they had not been brushed, their travelling cages had not been cleaned (they had just got off a flight from dubai). but salim did drive them to our house (not far) for free.
the clinic is in ezdehar, near granada center, just past the Black Box.

Even in Jeddah with such narrow ass pavements and the big square raised bit in the centre (with sand in the middle) for a tree whose roots will probably crack and deform the pavement - I wonder if they realised that or just couldn't be arsed to plant them. Oh yeah, plus they'd need regular watering...ah yes, they have treated sewage water for that!!

Then there's the art of crossing roads there...'tis much safer in the ole sayyara, IMHO!

Mind you, a friend of mine visited Riyadh recently and said the pavements are proper, wide, pedestrian ones - rather like the ones on Oxford St, London (near Selfridges).

BTW, I had all my fingers and both thumbs scanned by Jawzat today + my picture taken...whatta concentration camp!!!
