" The following individual sent me the interview form: UAE Ministry of Education The Minister: Dr. Hanif Hassan Tel: + 971-50940099
e-mail address: [email protected]
www.ministeryofeducationuaegov.tk'
There actually is a Dr. Hanif Hassan, but do you really think that his office email would be [email protected]?
Have you tried that web address:
www.ministeryofeducationuaegov.tk ?
The UAE actually is a real country with ministries and budgets. They don't need to use hotmail and gateways with links to South Korea. |

As was suggested very early in this thread. It is a scam and obviously a scam.
DO NOT SEND them any paperwork or money.
There is no such job...
Legitimate government ministries do NOT use Pacific Islands to host their websites. Nor do they use Hotmail. BTW - <.tk> is Tokalu... some island in the Pacific as is <.us>
VS
(Did anyone check out that website address??? A lounging scantily dressed woman on the front page of a Middle East government ministry website???) |

"Tokelau provides any interested individuals .tk domain names free of charge, and you pick if you want advertising banners on all provided domains. These free domains are pointed to Tokelau nameservers, which redirect HTTP traffic via HTML frames to a specified web page. The domains also redirect 250 email addresses to external addresses."

Well, anybody can create his own website using the above provider free of charge!
Here is one site which looks like my avatar name!

First off the job as described is total fiction... nothing anything like that even exists. Second, to get $4800 a year, you need an MA in TEFL/Applied Linguistics plus a significant number of years of direct experience... teaching Academic English.
Sorry that this one's a scam. Why not check out the board here to learn about some of the Middle East jobs that you might be qualified for?
Or was it only the $4800 a month that interested you?

Psych.
I wasn't commenting on you, but on the job offer. Their usual spiel is 4800 US per month with a bachelors degree and no experience
I realize now that I could have come across attacking you, and I apologize. It was not my intent.
unless you have the celta/delta and the bachelors degree AND 3 to 5 years you won't even be in this ball park. (usually it is closer to 5 to 7 years teaching w/out the MA) |

Well I'm glad we got to the bottom of that, Pyschedelic.
When you kept signing off "Please reply asap" I had visions of you at the airport deciding whether or not to get on the plane and they were calling final boarding. |

| Go for it! We are all just so envious that you will be the only person in the Middle East and certainly one of the few in the world to be so highly paid as an ESL teacher that we are heaping all this cautionary feedback upon you. It is a conspiracy against you to keep you from that one dream job; the 'Brass Ring Opportunity'. Follow your dreams or nightmares; whichever way you are pre disposed. |

Umm... are you trolling?
You seem upset that we may have stopped you from accepting a job that didn't exist... after sending them money... and all your personal information.
Fewer people would get caught up in things like this if they just stopped and thought. First, why would someone with limited credentials and experience be offered this much money (as per the ad... doesn't refer to you).
Why would a wealthy country have its Ministry of Education using Hotmail or a website like the one referred to... based in an island in the Pacific?
BTW...
You're welcome...

It's an online pigeon drop and I'm actually impressed by these scammers--in the sort of way I have always been impressed by highwaymen and bank robbers. How long ago was it this scam unfolded on this discussion thread--and appeared again and again, even getting a newspaper to cover the story? And how easy is it to do a little Googling to bust the scam? Yet. . .they are still finding pigeons and making a profit by investing in a domain name. 15 bucks a year tops.
I am in the wrong line of work. |

Dear keifer,
In a line oft attributed to P.T. Barnum (but actually said by - who else - a banker named David Hannum):
"There's a sucker born every minute."
Of course, that was back when the population wasn't as numerous as now, so it should probably be updated to
"There's a sucker born every second."
Regards,
John |
