With maturity, people choose to restrict their battles to things that actually matter. That doesn't include words on a map. Rolling Eyes But then, this post showed a major lack of maturity - and manners.

If the term "Persian" is crucial to one's mental well-being, perhaps one should stay home.

Whilst I realise that you may well have know Lawrence of Arabia personally the fact is VS, you are an old-timer now. Getting more and more out of touch with modern progress and definitely out of date with many of your ramblings. Smile

Give it up, shake the sand out of your ears, grab a cup of hot milk and read a good novel. Leave the rest to us younger things now. Smile

In the U.S. the accepted term is Persian Gulf. One time George Mason Univ. sent out an email promoting a special lecture in Virginia on the Persian Gulf by a Middle East specialist, and the email also went out to the Ras al Khaimah campus. I consider it unnecessary to change the name to Arabian Gulf in that case. But if the lecture were going to be given at the UAE campus, I would have recommended the terminology be changed, which I imagine they would have done. Meanwhile I am sure the American campuses in Qatar always say "Arabian"!

What are you talking about? Have you even read this thread? How many years have you taught in the Gulf?

Your ignorance is showing... as displayed by almost your complete history of posting here... all 8 messages...
