Hi,

I am a reasonably new EFL teacher. I have over a year experience, but am interested in getting professionally certified to try and open up some new, possibly better opportunities. I have been looking into on-line programs, and I figured that I'll need something at least 100 hours plus some kind of practical component. However, I also heard that it is possible to become certified by doing the on-line component and then demonstrating relevant job experience instead of doing the practical. I read about in specifically in relation to this course:

Has anyone heard of this actually happening before? I would like to be certified to get a better job, but I don't really want to take a break from work right now to do it.

It's possible, but you also might want to check with TEFL course providers in your area, more and more are offering part time courses, on the weekend that can be completed in a couple months' time.
