I do not want to work in Japan for one month, but I do want to go over there, visit the country, and have a look at the companies there. Is one month enough time to check out companies? |
Enough time for what, exactly? I've known people who have landed a job in 2 weeks of setting foot in Japan, and I've also known people who went home jobless after wasting their entire 90-day tourist visa (and tons of money) looking for work.
Where and when you plan to come also matters in some cases.

In my opinion the Young Dude's Guide to Japan is a must-read for anyone wanting to go to Japan as it gives you someone's honest view of the country, not some exaggerated and glamourous description. |
Yes, it's someone's honest view. If you rely on that one, however, good luck. I'd steer clear of it. I can show you much better honest appraisals not linked to partying and having sex. (unless that's what you want to know about living here) |

hi Glenski,
Well I'd like to know all points of view and appraisals, as it's all interesting for me (since I've never been to Japan).
Certainly the partying is great to hear about, but I'd also like to know more about every day life. Do you have any links you could share?
best wishes |

That covers a huge topic, Arin, as I'm sure you realize. Can you be more specific?
There are many people writing blogs, and I'm sure you could find their entries with an Internet search.
There are many reference sites. Here are a few.

There are quite a few discussion groups. One for JETs will be an eye-opener for candidness, if nothing else.

The next one has a huge number of topic areas that you can sift through.

This one isn't as great in my book, but it has a fair number of topics.

If this link is still valid, it's a good perspective.

Here is some NOVA-related info, plus whatever these guys did in their off time.

NTT used to put out a guide to living and working in Japan. Don't know if the site still exists.
And, of course, there are tons of books on the subject of everyday life in Japan. |

When you ask Glenski to provide you with some links, you've asked the right person. |
