...Hello, Lorien and hello, all...I am also interested in knowing of the K-2 curriculum, as I am interviewing 6/18 for a position with the ADEC...thanks to all for the helpful forum and good information...it should be interesting to find out what there will be in terms of curriculum...being no stranger to 're-inventing the wheel", perhaps I will get to hitch my wagon and do a little repair work of my own... |

| You won't be asked anything about the curriculum in the i/view, so don't worry about it. What you will be asked about is your classroom methodology, pedagogical skills, general education philosophy and how what you know now will fit in with the ADEC'S educational goals. The curriculum is very broad. |

Hi Carlen,
I was wondering if that is the curriculum that will be used to teach science, math and english next year? I'm just wondering because in my VERY QUICK assessment of the curriculum it seems a little advanced for learners who do not have english as a first language. But like I said it was a really fast look.

Yep. You hit the nail on the head. The curriculum, purchased as mentioned above, is not made for government school (be it PPP, model, or otherwise) students in the UAE. It's not been adapted, to the best of my knowledge, for the UAe, but like most curricula is makes some mention of EAL learners. |

I've just finished the last of my report cards, the grade 7 camping trip, the farewell ceremony and dinner/dance, parent appreciation tea, and on and on... and I'm just now checking back on the forum.
First, thank you for the 'props' Carlen. It's a wonderful thing to hear after being yelled at by parents all week over so many little things that I just want to say 'Who cares'. People sure do like to be critics and it's fabulous to hear something nice.
Secondly, a question that revolves around reporting. I am wondering (as I have just completed my own reports), if I am modifying the curriculum to suit my students needs... will I need to be following (legally) some kind of 'Prescribed Learning Outcome'? (at least that's what we call them)
For instance, I had to greatly modify the reading program. My students met the learning outcomes that I had to fulfill in order to meet government standards but I had to be very careful when structuring my lesson to include certain topics and gloss over others in order to meet these requirements. |
