| I think the paranoia about holding a local credit card is a bit overdone. I was able to get my old visa cancelled but keep my credit card during the interim period before I returned to the country and obtained a new resident visa. To do this I needed to maintain in my bank account the credit limit on my Master Card. Once I came back and obtained my new visa the minimum balance requirement was lifted. You can set up a link whereby full payment is made every month on the card by an automatic debit from your savings account. You should have no problem getting your visa cancelled so long as you cancel your card one or two months prior to departure. It's pretty routine. |
