Phone translation is very stressful and very low-paid. If you work from home, you will receive short bursts of work and your pay will be calculated by your agency based on the seconds of the actual calls. In other words, you might work an exhausting 8 hr day and only be paid for a fraction of it, because the lengths of the actual calls will be added up.

Sometimes I have made more money from written translation and sometimes less money from interpretation, though it is usually the other way around.
